This is the purest and oldest form of freediving, ironically,
only established as an official category very recently. The
diver may not use any equipment for propulsion nor the line
for pulling, thus having to swim on his own all the way down
and up (hence the nickname "frog style"). Divers
who excel in this category are superlative athletes, who must
posses incredible technique and train extremely hard to reach
their results.
Interesting Facts:
- This category was first created by Cuban freedivers,
who did not have access to high-performance fins and resorted
to using their arms instead.
- Tall divers are more suited for this category, as longer
arms greatly increase the length of line covered with each
pull. David lee, who is 5'9'' / 1.73 meters tall, has the
arm-span of a 6'2''/ 1.86 meters man, a fact he feels should
come in handy when attempting his first record in this category.
